Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Funding

Our aim is that every child at Childeric makes good or outstanding progress and attainment is at least in line with national attainment. Our pupil premium funding is used to support specific groups of pupils who are vulnerable to underachievement. These include pupils who are entitled to free school meals, those looked after by the local authority and the children of armed service personnel. The funding helps us to ensure that these pupils attain as highly as other groups of children.

Every school must report on how pupil premium funding (PPF) is spent and its effectiveness.

Schools are given pupil premium funding of £1,320 per pupil to be spent on educational provision within the school.

  • 2016/2017 = 200 children @ £1,320 per child = £264,000
  • 2017/2018 = 172 children @£1,320 per child = £227,040
  • 2018/2019 = 166 children @ £1,320 per child = £219,120
  • 2019/2020 = 155 children @ £1,320 per child = £204,600

1-2-1 support

Individual tuition in Year 6.

Booster Classes Easter Holidays 4 days of intensive teaching for identified pupils in year 6.

Additional Teaching Assistants

Teaching Assistants deliver intervention programmes and work with pupils in the classroom in order to accelerate progress.

Speech and Language Therapist

The school has employed a speech and language therapist to work with children with Speech and Language difficulties. Childeric receives half a day a week of support.

LEARN Workshops

These workshops are run throughout the year to show parents how they can support their children’s learning. We also provide the parents with valuable resources to continue to support their children’s learning at home.

After School Clubs

The school offers after school clubs from Year 2 - Year 6 to give the children an opportunity to try new subjects and gain new skills. Pupils with a particular ability or interest in a subject are encouraged to attend. This also increases the children’s self-esteem and improves social-skills.

Community Worker

Our Community Worker supports our families and children in a variety of ways. She communicates our high expectations to parents by ensuring that children wear school uniform and works with the Attendance Manager to encourage good attendance and punctuality. She organises workshops which have included Parenting Skills, Improving English and ICT. Our Community Worker also organises social events and fund raising activities, supports the secondary transfer process and supports vulnerable families. She supports parents with issues such as housing, immigration and benefits by signposting them to relevant agencies.

Pastoral Support Manager

Our Pastoral Support Manager oversees the pastoral needs of our pupils. He works closely with individuals and groups. He supports children to enable them to manage their behaviour in the classroom and make progress with their learning. He also arranges social events to encourage parents to work with the school. He leads the work of the Year 6 Ambassadors.

School Journey

Our year 6 children are given the opportunity to attend a week’s residential school journey at The Arethusa Centre in Rochester. This is the first time that many children have been away from home. We use our pupil premium, to pay for coaches, supply cover and consumables to keep the cost as low as possible to enable more children to attend.

School Trips

Pupil Premium funding allows us to give our children a broad and balanced curriculum with visits to relevant places of interest linked to our thematic curriculum. This means that if a child attends Childeric from Nursery to Year 6 they will have had the opportunity to visit London parks, museums, Art galleries, outdoor environmental centres,, London Zoo, the beach, a pantomime in a London theatre, ice skating and a musical in the West End to name a few.

Breakfast Club

We operate a breakfast club to make sure that all children who want a breakfast can access it at a subsidised rate.

Play Leaders

We employ three play leaders who provide a range of activities for children to enjoy at playtimes. These co-operative and competitive activities help to improve social skills, increase confidence and raise self-esteem.
